The continuous development of ICT, especially the Internet, has turned the world into a global village and made the international community more and more interconnected with a shared future. All parties have the responsibility and obligation to engage in global Internet governance to promote the inclusive development of the Internet and make the Internet beneficial to people of all countries.

Building an open platform for global Internet governance exchanges and consultations

Established in 2020, China IGF is an open bottom-up platform initiated by multi-stakeholders for exchanges and consultations on issues related to global Internet governance. It has been certified by the United Nations Internet Governance Forum (UN IGF), and the Internet Society of China undertakes its secretariat.

China IGF aims to encourage the Chinese Internet community to engage in the global Internet governance process actively, share China's Internet governance best practices, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the international community, support UN IGF to fulfill its unique role in facilitating discussion of global Internet governance issues and promote the joint building a community with a shared future in cyberspace.

The China IGF provides an essential platform for the Chinese Internet community to better participate in global Internet governance. Also, it provides a new window for the international community to understand and study China's Internet development and governance. The China IGF actively promotes the development and welfare of all parties around the globe and is committed to maintaining a peaceful, open, and cooperative Internet.

Promoting exchanges and cooperation on Internet governance between China and the international community

With the active participation of private sectors, civil societies, research institutions, universities, and other parties, China lGF is committed to bringing together the strength of China's Internet industry to better engage in the global Internet governance process and actively playing the role of a bridge to promote exchanges and cooperation between the Chinese community and international parties in Internet governance-related aspects, as well as gathering the recommended messages or outputs for potential solutions and next steps toward the improvements on global and local Internet governance-related fields. With these efforts, it has built a good platform for sharing and contributing China's Internet governance concepts and best practices to the international community.

From 2020 to 2022, three annual meetings of China IGF were successfully held, building a high-end exchange platform for Chinese and international parties to discuss Internet governance issues. Leaderships of international organizations and industry experts such as Mr. Liu Zhenmin, UN Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Andrew Sullivan, President and CEO of ISOC, Mr. Maarten Botterman, Chair of ICANN Board, Mr. Paul Wilson, Director General of APNIC, Mr. Jun Murai, Father of Internet in Japan delivered remarks or messages for the forum.

In 2020, the International Seminar on "Seizing Digital Opportunities for Cooperation and Development" was held by China IGF. Mr. Liu Zhenmin, UN Deputy Secretary-General, Mr. Shaukat Aziz, Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Djoomart Otorbaev, Former Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Mr. Bruce W.McConnell, President of the East-West Institute, Mr. Wolfgang Kleinwachter, Academician of the Global Commission on Stability in Cyberspace, Mr. Wu Hequan, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and other international dignitaries and well-known experts and scholars from home and abroad attended the seminar. During the seminar. Mr. Wang Yi, then Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister, put forward the Global Initiative on Data Security, which attracted wide attention from the international community.

Promoting the Chinese Internet community to participate in the global Internet governance process

China IGF actively participates in the UN IGF and related international Internet governance processes to share China's Internet governance best practices. During the UN IGF 2022, China IGF jointly held a NRI workshop session on "Child Online Protection" with partners Chad IGF, Nepal IGF, Nigeria IGF, and France IGF, introducing China's policies and effective measures to protect children online, provided the international community with a good governance model and reference.

Organize community contributions to the Global Digital Compact. In response to the call of the United Nations, China IGF, together with Chinese Internet community experts, submitted input to Global Digital Compact to the United Nations Office of the Secretary-Genera's Envoy on Technical in April 2023, contributing Chinese wisdom on how to build a digital social governance system of shared governance and sharing in the future. In addition, Ms. Zhang Xiao, Executive Deputy Director of China IGF, was nominated to attend the UN IGF Expert Group Meeting as a representative of the Chinese community in March 2023 to share China's Internet governance experience.

By organizing various training seminars and activities, China IGF is committed to cultivating new forces, encouraging more young people to earn about Internet governance, and actively participating in the governance process, which contributes to constructing a more fair, reasonable, open, inclusive, secure, stable and vibrant cyberspace.
